Beebalm (or Bee Balm), also known as Wild Bergamot, has been a favorite among gardeners and herbalists alike for hundreds of years, and for butterflies, moths, hummingbirds, bees and other pollinators for thousands of years!! Scientifically known as Monarda fistulosa, Beebalm is a member of the mint family as are many other common herbs like oregano, salvias, and, of course, the many different mint varieties! Beebalm is easy to get established in your garden or meadow where it establishes fast and spreads by shallow runner roots. Monardas can be vigorous spreaders in ideal conditions, however, they're not very difficult to control. They can be kept in a large container, as well. Fortunately, deer and rabbits aren't attracted to them! Flower color is typically pink, violet, lavender shades.
Monarda fistulosa, sometimes known as Horse-Mint, is hardy as far north as Canada and is found throughout most of the continental U.S. except California, Nevada, and Florida. USDA Hardiness Zones 3-9. Many of the Monardas are known to be susceptible to powdery mildew which can be ugly to look at when it occurs, but it's primarily a cosmetic issue on susceptible perennials. Good airflow and sunshine can help keep it at bay. Monarda fistulosa is said to be less susceptible than other species. Dried leaves are often used for a relaxing herbal tea.
This offer is for three (3) 2.5" x 3" pots of Monarda fistulosa (Bee Balm, Wild Bergamot).
