I knew from the moment I first saw Fireworks Goldenrod I had to have it! It's an explosion of yellow for the fall garden, and provides butterflies and bees with a late source of nectar and pollen. A compact, cascading, clump-forming native cultivar with a radiating flower form that really looks like fireworks! Selected and named by Ken Moore of North Carolina Botanical Garden in 1970. The species is Solidago rugosa, Wrinkleleaf Goldenrod. Add it to your fall garden. Plant it en masse for a knockout of a show!

Goldenrods are one of the most important perennials you can plant in your garden if you're planting for pollinators!! They are keystone species, providing food and habitat for over 100 butterfly and moth species (especially their caterpillar larvae which feed on the foliage), as well as pollen for 42 specialized native bees! 97% of our bird population then rely on the insects drawn to this and other keystone species for survival.
